Currently there are aprox. 280,000 Internally Displaced Sri Lankans (IDSL) affected by the northern conflict in Sri Lanka. With the limited resources of the country we solicit your generosity in this mass humanitarian cause. To make this a national effort, it is now a tripartite initiative with you, The Rotary Club of Capital City (RCCC) and the Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP). RCCC is also working with a consortium of local organizations such as The Solideal Loadstar Rehabilitation Trust (Mr Tissa Jinasena), The Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA), Mercy Malaysia, Frontier Automotives, Aitken Spence Group, Hayleys Group, Singha Cement, Jaic Hilton, AFLAC (Association for Lighting a Candle), The Association of Sri Lankan Lawyers in UK, The Association of Sri Lankan Professionals in the UK, Mr. Renton De Alwis, Mr. Pradeep Moraes, Mr Stanley Obesekera and like minded individuals at the moment. We also provide the logistical support for the Rotary District Steering Committee for IDSL Relief.
With the needs changing from time to time we will keep you updated on how you can make a difference to our people. At the moment the initiatives listed cover the initial phase, after which we will support the permanent fabrics of our people – the IDSLs, from infrastructure to livelihoods along with our Rotary District 3220.
Our gratitude goes to all individuals, organizations and the expatriate community who contributed, and continues to support – thank you once again, you have shown we are a nation with kind & generous hearts. To our international sponsors also a big thank you for your generosity. In the meantime, you could also forward this web address to your friends, relations, colleagues, etc so that we can make a greater impact on humanity, to OUR country.
Let us heal together as one family.
